Woman in hospital with serious burns after house fire

A woman is in hospital with serious burns after a fire in Headington near Oxford. Nine people - six of them children - were rescued from the blaze at a house in the Barton area.

It is thought the fire may have started in a caravan - and then spread to the property.

The blaze took hold early on the morning of Wednesday 10th July 2013. Neighbours say they were woken by a loud explosion. Penny Silvester reports.

Barton house fire

Nine people have been rescued from a house on fire in Barton this morning.

Firefighters were called to the scene in Bernwood Road at around 6.50am after a blaze spread from a caravan to a house.

Three people have been taken to the John Radcliffe Hospital following the incident.

Thames Valley Police and Oxfordshire Fire and Rescue Service are working together to establish the cause of the fire.

Police are appealing for any information surrounding the incident and urge people to contact 101.
