It ranks alongside the Vulcan bomber and the Enigma code-breaking machine at Bletchley Park as a remarkable feat of engineering. In fact, it's just won a prestigious award from the Institute of Mechanical Engineers.
So what is this incredible innovation, this piece of engineering excellence? Well, it's the rather modest electric train service that runs along the seafront at Brighton.
It was built by a Mr Magnus Volk 130 years ago. But, as Andrea Thomas reports, it may be a very little railway but it's got a very big history.
