The M3 Motorway was closed today after a mini bus crashed and ended up on an embankment. Three people on board were taken to hospital - two by air ambulance. Their injuries are described as life threatening.
Traffic was also held up on another of our major routes after a horse trailer overturned. One of the ponies inside was killed and two others had to be put down.
Police say that 10 people were involved in the M3 collision, not nine as previously thought. They include a 63-year-old woman, who is in intensive care in Southampton General Hospital. None of the other injuries are believed to be serious. The passengers were all Romanian nationals.

The northbound carriageway was initially closed to allow Helimed access to the scene. However air ambulances landed in a nearby field where the three seriously injured people were collected and flown to Southampton General Hospital where they remain in a life-threatening condition.
Seven other people – including two children – were walking wounded. They have been taken to Southampton General Hospital to be examined.

This is the first picture from our reporter on the scene of the M3 minibus crash. Two people suffered life threatening injuries. Two air ambulances and three land ambulances were sent to the scene. The serious casualties were airlifted to Southampton General Hospital.

The M3 is closed in both directions between junctions 5 and 6 following a minibus crash on the southbound carriageway. Police are clearing the northbound carriageway to allow the air ambulance to land and retrieve to people who are seriously injured.

Southbound traffic is being diverted off the motorway at junction 5 while emergency services attend the scene. The northbound carriageway has been closed to allow the air ambulance to land to convey the casualties to hospital.
Seven people are walking wounded. Motorists are asked to avoid the area until further notice, particularly the southbound carriageway which is expected to remain closed for some time.
