The Navy's specialist helicopter support squadron has won a top award in engineering.

Portsmouth-based 1710 Naval Air Squadron has been presented with the Royal Royce Efficiency Trophy.

The prestigious award is presented annually to the most efficient and effective squadron in the Fleet Air Arm.

At a ceremony at Portsmouth Naval Base, its youngest member, 22-year-old Paddy Graham received the trophy from Simon Baldwin who is the director of the TP400 engine programme at Rolls Royce.

1710 was praised for completing more than 180 structural repairs on helicopters worldwide and produced an online system that saved 3,000 man hours since April last year.
