Kent Parish Council hold fracking meeting

A village in East Kent is holding a Parish Council meeting tonight to discuss the possibility of fracking.

The meeting is about the planning application in Shepherdswell from Coastal Oil and Gas Ltd to carry out exploratory drilling for shale and gas close to the village.

Over the past week, posters and leaflets opposing the application have been distributed across the village and campaign group East Kent Against Fracking have also shown their opposition.

The planning application is one of three submitted to Kent County Council by the company.

The other two sites are at Tilmanstone and Guston.

Coastal Oil and Gas Ltd have already received planning permission to drill at Woodnesborough, which is less than five miles from Shepherdswell.
