Video. Thousands of motorists have been wrongly fined - for parking on private land. An investigation, by ITV Meridian, has discovered that drivers are being given tickets - even though they shouldn't be. A special report from our Transport Correspondent Mike Pearse.
A year ago today clamping on private land was banned and replaced by parking tickets.
But there are new claims thousands of drivers have been charged too much and warning signs don't meet new regulations.
Figures obtained by ITV News Meridian reveal almost 14,000 drivers have taken cases to an independent appeals panel.
Of the cases heard, almost half have been won by drivers.
The AA say they have evidence that drivers are being charged more than the £100 recommended charge, and in some cases warning signs are poor.
The British Parking Association say of more than two million tickets issued, just a fraction have been appealed. They insist the system is fair.
