Man charged with assaulting police officers

A 29-year-old man from Tunbridge Wells in Kent will appear before magistrates in Sevenoaks on Monday charged with assaulting two police officers.

John Leigh of Salomons Road is charged with causing actual bodily harm. He is also charged with assaulting a man who was walking in Monson Road.

One of the officers remains in hospital and the other has been discharged.

Kent police officers injured during arrest

Two police officers have been injured as they tried to make an arrest in the centre of Tunbridge Wells. Kent Police said they were being treated in hospital, but did not disclose their injuries or condition.

It is believed they were injured after being called to Monson Road, in the town centre. A driver is understood to have threatened a pedestrian.

A 29-year-old man was arrested in connection with an assault. No weapons were believed to have been used.
