Detectives in Southampton area appealing for witnesses and information about an incident where two teenage girls were assaulted.

Man charged in connection with attack on teenage girls

Detectives have charged a man in connection with an assault on three teenage girls in Thornhill, Southampton. Ryan Walker, aged 18, of Chettle Road, has been charged with:

  • Attempting to inflict grievous bodily harm

  • Inflicting grievous bodily harm

  • Common assault

  • Possession of a bladed article

The charges come after a 15 and 16-year-old girl were assaulted in Hinkler Park in Thornhill on Friday evening. The girls sustained significant face and head injuries and were treated at Southampton General Hospital. Another 15-year-old girl was also assaulted and sustained minor injuries.

Ryan Walker was remanded in custody and is due to appear at Southampton Magistrates Court on Monday, October 21st.

Extensive investigation underway after girls attacked

There is an extensive investigation underway and a man has been arrested in connection with the incident. Members of the community should remember that any vigilante-type attacks or incitement of that type of activity will not be tolerated. This also applies for comments made on social media. Anyone suspected of committing a criminal offence will be dealt with appropriately.

Officers from the Safer Neighbourhoods Team will be in the area this weekend to answer and questions members of the community may have and to offer advice and reassurance.

The families of teenage girls who were seriously assaulted in the Thornhill area of Southampton have appealed for calm in the local community.

This comes after the 15 and 16-year-old girls were assaulted in Hinkler Park in Thornhill on Friday evening.

They had previously seen the man who is believed to have assaulted them in a block of flats in Chettle Road earlier that evening.

The girls sustained significant injuries to their faces and heads and were treated at Southampton General Hospital.

Two teenage girls assaulted in skate park

Detectives in Southampton are appealing for witnesses after two teenage girls were assaulted. The girls were in the communal area of a block of flats in Chettle Road in Bitterne yesterday night, when a man spoke to them on the stairs. There was an exchange of words.

Later that evening, the girls went to the skate park at Hinkler Park where they saw the same man. There was an altercation and the girls, aged 15 and 16, were seriously assaulted.

They sustained facial and head injuries and are currently being treated at Southampton General Hospital.
