Four charged with murder

Detectives investigating the death of an Italian man in Maidstone have charged four Lithuanian men with his murder.

26-year-old Aleksandras Zuravliovas of Beaumont Road in Maidstone, Tomas Gelezinis who's 30, and of Lower Stone Street in Maidstone, Saulius Tamoliunas who's 23, and of Union Street, and 21-year-old Linas Zidonis of no fixed abode have been charged with the murder of 19 year-old Jeole Leotta.

The four men have been remanded in custody and will appear before Medway Magistrates’ Court via a video link on 24th October. A 30-year-old man has also been arrested in connection with the incident, becoming the 10th suspect to be arrested.

Ninth arrest in Maidstone murder investigation

A ninth person has been arrested following the death of an Italian man in Maidstone.

On 20 October to police were called to Lower Stone Street, where a man had reportedly been assaulted. A 19-year-old Italian man later died at King’s College Hospital in London.

Seven men were arrested and magistrates granted detectives from the Kent and Essex Serious Crime Directorate additional time to question those arrested.

On 22 October a 28 year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder and is currently in custody. He is the ninth person to be arrested.

Two of the suspects have since been released on bail. The victim’s family have been informed.

Detectives granted extra time to question suspects

Detectives investigating the murder of a man in Maidstone have been granted additional time to interview the suspects.

Police were called to Lower Stone Street in Maidstone on Sunday where a man had reportedly been assaulted. A 19-year-old Italian man later died. Seven men were arrested.

One man, aged 45 years-old, has been released on bail until 16 December, and magistrates have granted detectives extra time to interview the other six arrested men. Officers now have until the evening of Wednesday 23 October to question the suspects.

On the evening of 21 October, an eighth man was arrested on suspicion of murder and is currently in police custody.

The victim’s family have been informed, and are travelling to Kent from Italy.
