Police investigating the death of two teenage girls who were killed in Gosport after being hit by a car have been given more time to question a 20-year-old man in custody.

A man, arrested on suspicion of murder, is still being questioned in connection with the death of two teenagers in a car crash. 14-year-old Jasmine Allsop died on Ann's Hill Road in Gosport early yesterday morning. Olivia Lewry, who was 16-years-old, died later in hospital.

Detectives have released the names of two teenage girls who died following a road traffic collision in Gosport. Jasmine Allsop, aged 14, sadly died at the scene of the collision in Ann’s Hill Road in Gosport. Olivia Lewry, aged 16, was taken to hospital but also sadly died.

The girls were both pedestrians and were involved in a collision with a green Honda Civic car which was being driven along the road at about 4am today. Detectives from Hampshire Constabulary’s Major Investigation Team launched a murder investigation earlier today.

Detective Superintendent Dick Pearson said: 'This is an extremely tragic incident which has resulted in the death of two young girls.' A 20-year-old man from Gosport has been arrested on suspicion of murder and is currently in police custody.

Second girl dies after car used in murder

A murder investigation has now been launched after two teenage girls were hit by a car in Hampshire.

A 14-year-old girl died at the scene on Ann's Hill Road near Brougham Street in Gosport.

A 16-year-old girl was taken to Queen Alexandra Hospital in Cosham where she has since died.

Detective Superintendent Dick Pearson, from Hampshire Police said: 'This is an extremely tragic incident which has resulted in the death of two young girls. I currently have a team of detectives and other officers working on this case to fully investigate the circumstances.'

A 20-year-old man from Gosport has been arrested on suspicion of murder and is currently in police custody. Anyone with any information is asked to contact the Major Investigation Team at Fratton Police Station on 101, quoting Operation Barb.

Road closures remain in place after a 14-year-old girl was killed in Gosport. She was hit by a car in the early hours of this morning on Ann's Hill Road. A 16-year-old girl was also hit. She remains at Queen Alexandra Hospital in Cosham with serious injuries.

A 20-year-old man from the Gosport area has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and is currently in police custody. Witnesses should call the Road Death Investigation Team at Eastleigh Police Station on 101, quoting Operation Barb, or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

Witness appeal after 14-year-old girl killed

Police are appealing for witnesses after a 14-year-old girl was killed and a 16-year-old girl seriously injured by a car in Hampshire. A green Honda Civic collided into the teenagers near the junction of Ann’s Hill Road and Brougham Street in Gosport at about 4.15am today.

The 16-year-old who sustained serious injuries is currently being treated at Queen Alexandra Hospital in Cosham. A 20-year-old man from the Gosport area has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and is currently in police custody.
