Post-mortem examination due

A post-mortem investigation is due to take place today following the death of 55-year-old woman in Hastings.

Offices from Surrey and Sussex Major Crime Team are treating the death as unexplained but have launched a murder inquiry.

Police are appealing for witnesses after the woman was found dead in the communal area of flats in George Street at 10.35pm on 13th November 2013. She has yet to be formally identified and next of kin have only just been traced.

We are appealing for witnesses who may have seen the woman in the area from 7pm to 10.35pm on 13th November 2013 to come forward."

A 61-year-old man from Hastings, who is known to the victim, was arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in police custody.

A 61-year-old has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a 55-year-old woman was found dead at a block of flats in Hastings.

Police were called at about 10.35pm on 13th November 2013, after the woman's body was found in the communal area of flats on George Street. They're asking anyone who may have seen the woman to get in touch.
