Police break up illegal rave

Two people have been arrested after an illegal rave was broken up at Beacon Hill near Highclere on the Hampshire Berkshire border.

Rave near Downton Abbey site

Police came under attack as they tried to stop an illegal rave in the countryside attended by up to 100 people.

Six officers sustained injuries after allegedly having missiles thrown at them in Beacon Hill, Highclere, close to where Downton Abbey is filmed on the Hampshire/Berkshire border.

A 23-year-old man and 29-year-old woman were arrested on suspicion of organising the unlicensed event.

The woman, from Oxfordshire, was also held for suspected possession of class B drugs.

Officers from Hampshire and neighbouring Thames Valley Police were alerted to the rave at around midnight and say they attended to foil any disorder and disruption to local residents.

Arrests after illegal rave broken up by police

Two people have been arrested after an illegal rave in the early hours of this morning. Between 80 and 100 people were at the unlicensed event at Beacon Hill near Highclere on the Hampshire Berkshire border.

A 23-year-old man from Surrey and a 29-year-old woman from Oxfordshire were arrested in relation to organising the event. The woman was also arrested for possession of class B drugs.

Officers from Hampshire and Thames Valley Police were subjected to violence, including missiles thrown at them, which resulted in six officers sustaining non-serious injuries.
