A police officer is in a critical condition in hospital after he was hit by a stolen car in Reading last night. He and a fellow officer were on foot, trying to stop the vehicle on Lower Earley Way West, Whitley. The other officer was unharmed.
Three people have been arrested in connection with the attempted murder of a police officer after a road traffic collision in Whitley, Reading on Saturday.
PC Gareth Browning was struck at high speed by a stolen car which he was attempting to stop as it travelled on Lower Early Way West.
One man, aged 28, was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder. A woman, aged 31, was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder. A 34-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender.
All three suspects, from Reading, are currently in custody.

The black Mazda Aerosport, registration number KB07 LBV, failed to stop. The vehicle was later recovered in Corrine Close, Whitley, but officers are still attempting to locate the driver. The Mazda was stolen during a burglary in Sonning Common on 21 November.
Assistant Chief Constable John Campbell said: 'Our thoughts are with the injured officer and his family at this time. We would urge anyone who may have any information about these incidents or knows the whereabouts of the driver to call the non-emergency number 101 and quote URN 1104 30/11.'
