Detectives are appealing for witnesses after a man received serious injuries during a fight in Portsmouth.

Hampshire Police are appealing for witnesses after a man received serious injuries during a Portsmouth fight.

Police were called to the Red Lion pub in London Road, Cosham at 11.48pm on Friday 27th December.

A 31-year-old man from Portsmouth was taken to hospital with serious facial injuries.

A second man received medical attention at the scene for facial injuries which were not as serious.

Initial enquiries found that both the men were victims of an assault involving a number of other people.

Investigating officer Sergeant Nicola Smith said: CCTV footage is being examined to establish the complete circumstances and help identify suspects. "We are appealing for witnesses among people either inside or near the Red Lion pub between 11pm last night and quarter past midnight this morning"
