A woman who died at her home in Banks Road, Crawley, on New Year's Eve has been identified as 51-year-old Maria Woodhead.

Forensic investigators have now established that there was not an explosion as first thought, but that a small fire, contained within one room at the house, may have contributed to Miss Woodhead's death.

However, the exact cause of her death has not yet been established, but it is not being treated as suspicious.

The matter has been referred to the coroner's officer and investigations are continuing.
