Police are investigating what they are calling a suspicious incident after a man was forced to hand over cash to someone pretending to be from TV Licensing.
The 33-year-old victim answered his door on Defence Way, Picket Twenty in Andover as the suspect demanded him to pay £145.50.
If he didn't, the suspect stated the TV would be taken from the property.
The victim handed over the money as the man got into a white van and left.
The suspect is described as:
- Aged between 30-35
- 5ft 8ins tall and of medium build
- Dark short hair and clean shaven
- Wearing black trousers, black work boots and white shirt with blue tie, black jacket with an ID card clipped to his jacket, the ID card had a logo on it
- He spoke with a foreign accent, possibly Ukranian
Hampshire Constabulary want to remind residents that legitimate callers from any utility company will be happy to provide ID and will also be happy for people to call their employer to check their identity.
