Following the death of a teenager from Kent, a heart screening programme has been taking place in Faversham today. Six years ago young, fit Jack Maddams died in his sleep, days before his 18th birthday, from an undiscovered heart defect.
Since then his parents have fundraised tirelessly to raise money for the charity Cardiac Risk in the Young to pay for public heart screenings and prevent other families suffering the same loss.
Every week in the UK at least 12 apparently fit and healthy young people die of undiagnosed heart conditions.
