A pre-built underpass is being fitted into place at Rochester's new station over the Easter weekend as part of a £147m railway revamp. No trains are running through the Medway towns while the work happens.
Network Rail said the underpass was being put on air jacks filled with nitrogen, to raise the structure like a hovercraft on a cushion. A new station is being built at Rochester to allow 12-car trains to stop.
