Hampshire Police have named the woman found on the A3 carriageway at 3.15am on Friday. The body of 48-year-old Louise Malins from Horndean was discovered by a motorist on the Northbound carriageway near Clanfield, Waterlooville.

Police are investigating the circumstances of Mrs Malins’ death, which is not being treated as suspicious. Officers are keen to speak to anyone else who may have been travelling this route between 2.30 and 3.30am on Friday, May 23 and believes they saw or hit something in the carriageway.

Hampshire Police are investigating an incident on the A3 near Clanfield after a woman's body was found on the northbound carriageway in the early hours of this morning.

A 48-year-old woman from the local area was pronounced dead at the scene. Her next of kin have been informed.

Police say her death is not being treated as suspicious but are appealing for any witnesses who may have seen what happened. A home office post mortem is taking place this afternoon.

The A3 was closed north and southbound while scenes of crime officers carried out an initial investigation.
