A dad of three is taking on brutal tides and jellyfish next month when he attempts to swim

solo across the English Channel to raise thousands of pounds for charity.

Nick Alford, from Aylesford in Kent, will attempt the 21 mile swim across one of the

world’s busiest shipping lanes to raise money for Surrey based Duchenne charity Harrison’s

Fund and Demelza Hospice Care for Children which has a children’s hospice in Kent.

Nick said, “I have swum the Channel twice before, but in relay teams, so this is my first solo attempt and I wanted it to mean so much more than just a physical challenge”.
