Women are being warned by police to take extra care as they walk through Portsmouth after three unprovoked attacks in three weeks - one woman was stabbed as she walked through the city in daytime hours.
In the first incident a 20-year-old woman was assaulted from behind and suffered serious a chest injury.
Days later a 45-year-old woman was approached and stabbed in her chest, while in the third incident a woman was attacked as she walked through an alleyway in Cosham on the outskirts of the city.
Increased police patrols have been put in place to reassure the community. A 30-year-old man from Waterlooville and a 17-year-old youth from Hilsea have been arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm.
