Man jailed for pouring drain cleaner on two teenagers

A man who deliberately doused two teenagers in drain cleaner in a revenge attack, has been jailed for seven years.

Levi Bruce, 31, of Moultain Hill, Swanley, pleaded guilty to grievous bodily harm with intent at Maidstone Crown Court earlier and was sentenced to seven years in prison.

Bruce maimed a 16-year-old boy and his 19-year-old brother in Gravesend in the evening of 21st January this year.

The 16-year-boy suffered burns to his chin, chest, arms, stomach and leg. The 19-year-old, who described it as feeling as though he was being burned by a blow torch, suffered burns to his head, face, neck, arms, chest and legs.

Officers immediately began enquiries and arrested Bruce days later.

To say this was a malicious and mean-spirited attack is an understatement. Drenching two men in a corrosive substance is an appallingly violent thing to do. Bruce claimed in interview that he just threw the contents of the bottle at them in self-defence and had no idea what sort of liquid it contained. I absolutely reject this idea. Both victims will be scarred for life from their injuries and have months of medical treatment ahead of them. I welcome the news Bruce will be behind bars for the part he played in this disgraceful incident.
