At 7.40pm yesterday officers attended reports of a plane in difficulty.
A light aircraft was located in a field off London Road, Buckingham.
A man, aged in his sixties, died at the scene. His next of kin has been informed.
Officers remain at the scene and air accident investigators are due to attend.
Supt Gez Chiariello, LPA Commander for Aylesbury Vale, said: “Officers are currently in Buckingham following a light aircraft collision.
“Sadly the sole occupant of the plane died at the scene. No one was hurt on the ground.
“Investigators from the Air Accident Investigation Branch are due to attend to investigate and establish the circumstances of what has happened.”
A man has been killed in a light aircraft crash near Buckingham.
Thames Valley Police said the aircraft came down in a field close to London Road, Padbury Brook, Buckingham, at 8pm last night.
The Air Accidents Investigation Branch (AAIB) has begun an investigation into the incident.
