Mum, 37, injured in collision in Battle dies

A woman who was seriously injured in a collision with a car while she was walking with her family has died from her injuries. The vehicle involved later crashed into a cafe in the town centre. Sussex Police are investigating.

A 37-year-old mother of three children who was left fighting for her life after being seriously injured by a car which then crashed into a cafe in Battle in Sussex, has died from her injuries.

The police are appealing for witnesses. The tragedy happened on the afternoon of Sunday 19th March in Upper Lake off the High Street in Battle.

"Our thoughts are very much with the family at what is a very difficult time, and we would ask people to respect their privacy while they try to come to terms with what has happened."

Three injured after car crashes into Sussex coffee shop

A couple and their three children have been injured after a car crashed into them, in Battle on Sunday afternoon.

According to reports the family were walking along the high street when a black Volkswagen Beetle collided with them, before driving into the front of a cafe window, leaving customers trapped inside.

The female driver and the three children, including an infant in a pram, were treated for shock and minor injuries.

However the parents suffered severe injuries. The mother has been described as being in a critical condition and the father seriously ill with head injuries.

Police examining the circumstances of the crash are investigating reports that the car driver may have been under the influence of alcohol when it occurred.
