Off-peak lane closures will be in place on the A33 northbound near Reading from today.

Between 9:30am and 3:30pm Monday to Friday, restrictions will be in place between Longwater Avenue and Island Road.

The council is building a new bus lane to help speed up journeys along the busy route.

All lanes will be fully open for both the morning and evening peak periods.

It is anticipated that southbound off peak lane closures will commence from mid-June.

Road users are being asked to be aware of the restrictions and allow some extra time for their journeys if travelling during off peak hours.

While the off peak lane closures are unavoidable as this project progresses, working with contractors we have delayed them as much as possible to minimise inconvenience for road users.''

– Tony Page, Reading Borough Council
