Police investigating the abduction of a 59-year-old man from a house in Southsea last month have made an arrest.
A 35-year-old man from Southsea has been arrested on suspicion of kidnap and is being questioned by police.
The incident happened on the 28th February.
Police are appealing for witnesses after a man was abducted from a house in Southsea in the early hours of Sunday.
It is alleged that three men targeted a house in Beach Road and assaulted the 59-year-old victim before demanding money from him. The men then drove the victim in a three-door light-grey Peugeot 206 car to a cash point machine in St Catherine’s Street, where they attempted to withdraw money from his bank account.
They drove the victim to a car park on Long Curtain Road, Clarence Esplanade.The suspects threw the victim into the sea. He suffered minor injuries during the abduction.
CCTV shows the suspects entered the car park in the Peugeot 206 on Long Curtain Road at 3.09am and left at 3.23am.
The suspects were described as:
White. About 5’ 7" tall. Late 20s – early 30's. Short, brown hair. Clean shaven. He had a non-local, British accent.He was wearing a blue denim Wrangler jacket and black trousers.
White. About 6’ 2" tall. Early 30's. Medium build. Brown, ‘crew cut’ hair. Stubble.He was wearing a green jumper and blue Levi jeans.
White. About 5’ 9" tall. Stocky build. Brown hair, cut in a very short skinhead hair. He was wearing black trousers, dark brown, v-necked jumper over a shirt, which had a blue and white striped collar.
Were you in the Beach Road area of Southsea in the early hours of Sunday and did you see the suspects? Or were you in the Clarence Esplanade / Long Curtain Road car park area between about 3-4am on Sunday?
The offender was white, over 6ft tall and of stocky build. He had short dark hair and was wearing a white Nike t-shirt with a small blue tick on it and black jogging bottoms or jeans.
Investigating officer Det Sgt Mark Stalder from Oxford Force CID said: “At the moment we would like to talk to anyone who saw this happening and we urge the man involved to come forward to police.
“If anyone saw anyone acting suspiciously yesterday morning, please do get in touch.
“Incidents like this are incredibly rare and I want to reassure the community we are doing everything to catch this offender.”

Police are hunting a man who tried a young boy in Oxford.
The incident happened at around 11.45am on Saturday when a young boy was playing outside in Overbrook Gardens in Blackbird Leys, Oxford.
His mother, who was inside at the time, heard the boy talking to a man outside.
But when her partner went outside and found the young boy was no longer in front of the property.
He ran down the street and saw the boy with the man at the junction with Three Corners Road.
He shouted at the man who ran off towards Grenoble Road.
Police in Southampton are investigating after a 12-year-old girl claimed a man in a van had tried to force her into his vehicle
She told police she was walking along Cuckmere Lane between Redbridge Towers and Redbridge Community School at around 8.25am when a man in a white van pulled up and tried to grab her. She managed to get away and officers were alerted.
Police have been carrying out house to house enquiries in the area and are appealing for witnesses who may have seen what happened.

The reported incidents date from Friday, February 10 to Wednesday.
