Rail passengers faced two hour delays on the Paddington mainline after a major security alert at Bristol Parkway.Services to the Thames Valley, including Reading, Swindon and Didcot were disrupted.
The incident lasted almost two hours with a train and the station evacuated. Services were halted.

"All trains stopped at Bristol Parkway are now on the move. One affected train had a couple of people travelling to the Olympic Football, this has been prioritised. They will arrive in time for kick off.Station now fully reopened and trains allowed to call, although it will take some time for our service to get fully back to normal."
A major security alert is tonight in operation on the Great Western mainline.The train at the centre of the alert is the 3.28pm Swansea to London and due to Stop at Swindon and Reading.
It is understood an unattended bag was spotted and the alarm raised.All passengers have been evacuated from the train at Bristol Parkway and the station has also been evacuated.Anti-terror police have been called to the scene.
Passengers were told to leave everything on the train and evacuate.Trains are not stopping at the station and delays on the Paddington line are expected for some time.The situation is ongoing.
“I can confirm that BTP was called to Bristol Parkway rail station on Thursday, 26 July, following a security alert.
“The incident was reported to BTP at 5.04pm
“Officers are at the scene carrying out an investigation into an unattended package onboard the 3.28pm Swansea to London Paddington service.
“The train has been evacuated and the station is currently closed, with no trains stopping.”
A train heading to Reading and London from Wales has tonight been evacuated at Bristol. Meridian understands two unattended bags were spotted by passengers. Both the train and Bristol Parkway Station have been evacuated . Sniffer dogs are at the scene.
The train was travelling from Cardiff. The call to the police was just after 1700. The train was due at Reading around 1830.
