Station closed for £900m upgrade

As thousands head off for the Easter weekend, commuters who travel through Reading are being warned of disruption as the station is closed due to £900m upgrade.

There are no direct services from Swindon, Oxford and Newbury to London. Trains from Bournemouth and Southampton to the north will also be affected. Here's our Transport Correspondent Mike Pearse.

Summer washout as traders face a wet bank holiday

It's a bank holiday weekend, and once again, it's wet and windy weather.

Forecasters say temperatures will struggle to reach 20 degrees, and there could even be thunderstorms.

For many seaside attractions and tourist businesses in the south east, the last Bank Holiday before Christmas represented the last chance to make good after a poor summer.
