The Eagle has landed...in my living room!

An eagle flew into a woman’s living room as she watched the French Open final.

Wendy Morrell was at her home in Broadstone in Dorset when the surprise visitor swooped into the house.

She called the Wessex Bird of Prey Rescue which sent an officer to collect the bird.

It was identified as a Russian Steppe eagle called Boris which had been missing for a few days.

Its owner has since come forward.

Two arrests after alleged assault and criminal damage

Dorset Police are appealing for witnesses after an alleged assault and criminal damage in Broadstone.

The incidents happened at around 1am on Sunday 29th December at the Blackwater Stream public house on Lower Blandford Road.

Two men, a woman and a police officer were assaulted and some minor injuries were sustained.

A white Yamaha motorbike was damaged when the altercation moved into the car park at the rear.

A local man in his twenties has been arrested on suspicion of assault, criminal damage and assaulting a police officer. A local woman in her twenties has been arrested on suspicion of assault.

There were a number of people at the pub when the offences were committed. I am appealing for anyone with information concerning the disturbance to contact Dorset Police in confidence. I am also keen to speak with anyone who may have witnessed the altercation that occurred outside the pub to help me establish exactly what happened.”
