Members of the RAF have been exercising their right to the Freedom of the Town in Carterton in a parade, after being awarded the honour. SAC Georgia Wray from RAF Brize Norton said it was an indicator of the strong link between the town and the RAF in Oxfordshire.

Sewage dumping lands driver with £11,000 fines and compensation

A man who dumped two tanker loads of sewage waste in Carterton has been ordered to pay more than £11,000 in fines and compensation.

Michael Ridgway of Hinstock near Market Drayton, Shropshire, was prosecuted by West Oxfordshire District Council in its biggest ever fly-tipping prosecution.

The sewage waste was discovered on in September last year flowing underneath portable buildings at the construction compound within the West Oxfordshire Business and Retail Park.

Using local CCTV systems, council officers identified the registration number of the only vehicle capable of carrying the effluent that had visited the business park over the weekend.

Man arrested in rape case - Police statement

Thames Valley Police has arrested a 22-year-old man from Witney on suspicion of rape.

The man was arrested last night in connection with the rape of a 15-year-old girl in the early hours of last Saturday.

A 41-year-old man who was previously arrested on suspicion of rape has been released without charge.

We recognise this incident is likely to cause concern in the local community and I would like to reassure people that we have a team of detectives working on the case.

Police on scene of Carterton murder

Thames Valley Police have arrested three people on suspicion of murder following the discovery of a body.

Detectives detained the three after a man's body was found in Carterton, West Oxfordshire, this morning.

They were called by paramedics to an address in Alvescot Road at 7.53am, where the body of an unnamed man in his fifties was discovered. He was declared dead at the scene.

Officers arrested a 27-year-old woman, a 48-year-old man and a 59-year-old man on suspicion of murder. They remain in police custody.

A post-mortem examination is due to be conducted and formal identification of the man will follow.

Police have launched a murder investigation after the discovery of a man’s body in Carterton, Oxfordshire, this morning.

Officers were called by paramedics to an address in Alvescot Road at 7.53am, where the body of a man in his fifties was discovered. He was declared dead at the scene.

Police have arrested a 27-year-old woman, a 48-year-old man and a 59-year-old man on suspicion of murder. They remain in police custody.

The investigation is at a very early stage with officers from Thames Valley Police Major Crime Unit leading the murder investigation."
