A town fell silent today as the bodies of six soldiers killed in Afghanistan were returned home.

Detectives detained the three after a man's body was found in Carterton, West Oxfordshire, this morning.
They were called by paramedics to an address in Alvescot Road at 7.53am, where the body of an unnamed man in his fifties was discovered. He was declared dead at the scene.
Officers arrested a 27-year-old woman, a 48-year-old man and a 59-year-old man on suspicion of murder. They remain in police custody.
A post-mortem examination is due to be conducted and formal identification of the man will follow.

Parents in a village had reported Gough to police after spotting him walking while local children were coming out of school. Judge Patrick Eccles at Oxford Crown Court rejected an application by Gough's lawyer to have the charge dismissed. He was arrested in Carterton, Oxfordshire.

Thames Water engineers have been able to return water supplies to more than four and a half thousand homes in Oxfordshire.
A burst water pipe caused disruption to supplies around Carterton this morning.
A spokesperson said they have been able to divert water through other parts of the network.
Around 4,300 homes are without water in the Carterton area on Oxfordshire this morning after a pipe burst.
