Councillors in West Berkshire have backed new calls for safety improvements at Ufton Nervet following eight deaths at the level crossing since 2004.
Hundreds of local people signed a petition calling on the council to press Network Rail to install a full barrier crossing or make other improvements.
Councillors of all parties backed the motion last night. Network Rail say a review is underway.

Councillors are voting on a motion to pressurise Network Rail to upgrade the crossing with half barriers to one with gates that fully go over the road. Network Rail is reviewing the crossings future.
