Gavin Williamson has succeeded Sevenoaks MP Sir Michael Fallon as the UK's new Defence Secretary.
The 41-year-old, who was the government's chief whip before his appointment, was named after Sir Michael quit following allegations that he had touched a female journalist's knee in 2002.
Mr Fallon later admitted the behaviour and said it had "fallen below the high standards" that was required of him.
Gavin Williamson is the MP for South Staffordshire and has never held ministerial office.
He did not respond to reporters as he left Downing Street.
The Defence Secretary Philip Hammond says it is a top priority to give injured troops the best care and support.
