Plans have been unveiled to develop Dover's Western Docks, creating a possible six hundred new jobs. It's part of a regeneration project which includes the construction of a new cargo terminal.
The Government approved the development of the Western Docks two years ago. Proposals for achieving this have now been put forward.
Work is due to start today on a £150 million upgrade to Southampton Docks. Four new container berths are being built so that that the largest cargo ships in the world can dock there.
It's hoped the move will create 200 jobs and secure 2,000 more.
An eleven million pound scheme to improve the Eastern Docks at Dover is due to begin in the Autumn.
Space will be created for more than two hundred freight vehicles in the hope that it will relieve congestion on roads leading to the port.
It's part of a five year plan to upgrade the docks.
