They met as land girls during the Second World War and shared a home together for more than 50 years.
But when the story of Vera Barlow and Edith Hooper ended with their deaths last year their unusual lifestyle came to a close as well - because they were among the very few people who still lived in a wartime Nissen hut well into the 21st Century.
