An 89 year old man has died in a collision with a car as he was crossing the road in Poole.
The man suffered a serious head injury and died at the scene near Branksome Railway Station at 6:20am.
Poole Road between Pottery Junction and the County Gates Roundabout was closed for several hours. The driver of the car was arrested.

Police have revealed the child who died after being hit by a bus in Swindon yesterday was Caitlin Hunt.
The eight year old was pupil at nearby Rodbourne Cheney Primary School.
Wiltshire Police are appealing for witnesses following a fatal road traffic collision in Swindon last night in which an eight year old girl died.
The collision took place shortly before 5.50pm on Moredon Road close to the junction with Church Walk.
Paramedics and police officers attended the incident but the girl, from Swindon, was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.
Specially trained officers are currently helping support the family at this time.

Wiltshire Police closed Moredon Road and Church Walk late yesterday as investigations continued.

Four people have been arrested after a woman died in a car crash in Dover. The incident happened off Sandwich Road at Waldershare around 1.55am on Saturday 17th August.
A blue Vauxhall Corsa left the road & turned upside down onto the rood in a field beside Sandwich Road. Four people were travelling in the car including a 23-year-old woman who died at the scene.

A 44-year-old motorcyclist from Surrey has been killed when he hit the central reservation on the M26 in Kent.
It happened on the Surrey-bound carriageway of the motorway just before 7:30pm on Sunday evening.
The man who was riding a Honda CBR 600 suffered severe injuries and later died at the Kings Hospital.
