Back in February, we appealed for your help to save lives and your response has been incredible. Our From the Heart campaign aimed to increase the number of people on the organ donation register. You signed up in your thousands.
The number of people registering in the Meridian region was particularly high. Stacey Poole looks back at the plight of those on the transplant list - and the difference that organ donation can make.
Number of people signing up as organ donors up 1000%
The number of people signing up to become organ donors in our region is up a massive 1000%. During our week-long From the Heart campaign 9,055 people added their names to the register in our region, compared to just 818 during the same period in 2012. Stacey Poole explains.

Thousands join organ donor register
Thousands of people have joined the organ donor register following a major campaign by ITV News Meridian.
In February of this year we launched our From the Heart campaign. Since then more than 9,000 people have joined the register in our region, compared with just 818 during the same period last year.

Record number of responses 'From The Heart'
ITV's awareness-raising campaign for organ donation, From The Heart, drove a record number of responses to the NHS Organ Donor Register online on February 13th, with 48,000 people applying to join the register in one day.
ITV’s week of activity on-air and online, included two hours of peak time programming devoted to raising awareness of, and examining the issues around organ donation. On February 13th, a Tonight special on organ donation at 8pm was followed by an entertainment show at 9pm, From The Heart.
On the day these programmes aired, NHS Blood and Transplant experienced a record breaking amount of people logging on to their site to join the Organ Donor Register - more donation pledges on a single day than ever before.

147,000 join Organ Donor Register after ITV campaign
During ITV's From The Heart week to raise awareness for organ donation, record numbers of people applied to join the NHS Organ Donation Register.
On Feb 13th, when an ITV special programme on organ donation was broadcast, a record 48,000 applied online to join the register, with nearly 147,000 throughout the week.

Sally Johnson, Director of Organ Donation and Transplantation at NHS Blood and Transplant said:
"We could not have foreseen the unprecedented numbers of people who responded to the call to join the Organ Donor Register.
"So to each and every person who is now on the Register and crucially, has told their family, thank you."
