Police closed the roads around Preston Circus in Brighton for around an hour on Monday evening (February 4th) to reports of a man with a gun at a flat on London Road.
The call was made at 7.30pm and officers closed the roads in the area while a 30-year-old man was detained. He has been arrested for firearms offences and remains in custody this evening.
No-one was injured in the incident and Sussex Police would like to thank people for their patience while the roads were closed.
There's been an armed robbery at a shop in Rochester. Police were called on 8:40 on Saturday evening to a shop on Borstal Street after two men were reported to have threatened staff with what's thought to have been a hand gun. The men left on a motorbike with about £100 cash and some cigarettes.

One man has stocky build, about 6'3", grey hooded top and gloves, dark trousers and a white and blue crash helmet with a circular motif.
The other man is thin, about 5'11" with white baseball cap, black jacket with a white or yellow stripe and black shoes.
Police say it could be linked to an armed robbery at a Post Office in Milton Regis, Sittingbourne on 10 December. Anyone with information is asked to call DC Dave Godden on 101 quoting reference XY/039327/12.

Kent police have launched an investigation after reports of a man threatening staff at hotel in Hythe with a gun.
They were called to a hotel in Princes Parade at 10:30am this morning following a report that a man had entered the hotel and made threats towards a member of staff.
He was reportedly carrying a firearm.
Guests have been evacuated and the man is still believed to be inside the building.

Armed officers attended and the hotel took the decision to evacuate guests. A search is ongoing for the suspect. No one was injured in the incident. The road is currently closed.
