Basingstoke gunshot wounds: Man arrested

Detectives investigating an incident in Basingstoke which left a man with gunshot wounds have arrested a man.

A 25-year-old, from Basingstoke, has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and is currently in police custody.

The incident, which is believed to have occurred in Bennett Close during the evening of Friday 25th October, is still being investigated by police.

A 29-year-old man from Basingstoke attended Basingstoke and North Hampshire Hospital on Monday evening with gunshot wounds to his legs and buttocks.

He remains in hospital being treated for his injuries, which are not life threatening.

Detectives in Basingstoke are appealing for witnesses and information after a man was shot.

A 29-year-old man from the Basingstoke area turned up at North Hampshire Hospital with gunshot wounds to his legs and buttocks on Friday evening.

He's currently being treated and his injuries are not thought to be life threatening.

It's believed the incident took place at a house in Bennet Close.

We are in the early stages of our investigation at this time and the motive for the crime is not known at the moment, however the information we have so far shows this was a targeted attack on this man and there is no evidence to suggest a wider risk to the general public.

Police officers and PCSOs have been working in the area of Bennett Close this evening conducting house to house inquiries. We are keen to hear from anyone who was in the area of Bennett Close who heard anything suspicion on Friday evening or anyone who may have information about this incident to please call us."
