Winchester Hat Fair takes place this weekend.
It is the UK’s longest running festival of outdoor arts.
Founded in 1974 by Jonathan Kay, Hat Fair inspires and is inspired by the people, heritage and public spaces within the city of Winchester.
Initially conceived as a busking festival, the event takes its name from the tradition of the audience putting money in the hat at the end of the show.
This weekend the Hat Fair comes to Winchester. It is in it's 39th year and as popular as ever. The Hat Fair is a colourful celebration of theatre and music where entertainers perform voluntarily in exchange for money to be thrown into their hats.
