Safety review at Dorset building sites

Health and safety is under the spotlight at construction sites in Dorset.

Inspectors from the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) will visit smaller sites where refurbishment or repair works are taking place.

The visits are to ensure that activity, such as working at height are carried out correctly.

They will also check for general good order, assess welfare facilities and check whether suitable PPE, such as head protection, is being used appropriately.

During 2011/12, 32 people were injured on construction sites in Dorset.

Joanna Teasdale, HSE Principal Inspector, said: “We are determined to drive the message home that site safety and worker welfare cannot be compromised.”
