A man accused of starting fires at two hospitals in Kent has appeared in court.
Thomas Ashcroft, 34, of no fixed address, is charged with three counts of arson being reckless as to whether life was endangered, as well as two counts of burglary and one of burglary with intent to steal.
A fire broke out at the Kent & Canterbury Hospital last Thursday afternoon, and at the Medway Maritime Hospital last Wednesday. Fire also broke out at a hotel in Sheffield in July.No plea was entered and the case was adjourned until September 17.
There was no application for bail and Ashcroft was remanded in custody
Officers investigating a series of fires have charged a man with arson with intent. 34-year-old Thomas Ashcroft, of no fixed address, was charged with six offences after fires at Medway Maritime Hospital, Kent and Canterbury Hospital and the Hilton Hotel in Sheffield.
Mr Ashcroft will remain in custody until he appears before court on Monday 3 September to face the charges of 3 counts of arson with intent and 3 counts of burglary
