Police search river for missing man

Search teams are trying to find a man who's missing after getting into difficulty in the Jubilee River in Datchet in Berkshire.

Police were called shortly after 7pm yesterday evening to a report of people having entered the river at The Myrke.

One man is believed to have got in to difficulties in the water and is yet to be located.

Officers have been liaising with partner agencies and search activity is being carried out to attempt to locate the man.

“It is understood that some members of the public are attempting to search near the Jubilee River for the man who is yet to be located. I would like to advise anyone who is doing this that they do not enter the water as this could put them in danger. They should search from the bank only and, if they see anything they think is significant, they should speak to a police officer at the scene. Anyone who witnessed the incident or who can assist police enquiries should speak to an officer at the scene or call 101.”

Second man found dead in river

A man’s body has been found in the Jubilee River, near to the Windsor Relief Road. The body was seen by a member of a public shortly before 10.30am on May 17th. An immediate search of the river began and the body was located.

A formal identification is expected later. The death is being investigated as unexplained.

It comes two days after the body of 49-year-old Gurdip Kang was found in the same river. He had gone missing from his home in Slough.
