Today at Weymouth, they'll be training new recruits and getting them ready for the summer beach season.
Last year they helped more than 21,000 people around the UK.

Lifeguards are particularly needed for Thanet and the Isle of Sheppey in Kent; and Bognor Regis and Littlehampton in Sussex.
Sarah Saunders waded in on Broadstairs beach to find out more.
