Alex Corbisiero leaves Reading for Northampton

It's been confirmed that Alex Corbisiero has signed for Northampton Saints for the 2013/14 season. He's been with Reading based London Irish for 7 years. The club plays its home games at the Madejski stadium.

Alex joined London Irish as an 17 year old.

During his seven years at London Irish he has played 76 games for the Club.

London Irish Director of Rugby, Brian Smith said: “We are sad to see Alex go. We made him a very attractive offer to stay earlier this season but unfortunately Alex feels his future is elsewhere.

He is an Academy product who has gone through to the first team and on to the International stage and we are immensely proud of that. have some crucial games left this season and I know Alex will give his all in those games before departing for Northampton.”

The Welsh invade the South

Rugby fans in the South can eagerly look forward to the start of the Premiership Season with two teams playing in the top flight. London Irish hope to build on their strong previous season in Reading, while Championship winners London Welsh start their campaign in Oxford. Sion Donovan reports.

Rugby player suffers neck break injury

London Irish centre, Joe Ansbro, is recovering in hospital after breaking a bone in his neck in a pre-season friendly in Ireland. The Reading based player sustained the neck injury during the match with Munster on Friday night.

After An MRI scan at University Hospital, Cork, it was confirmed that immediate surgery was not required, and the injury would be managed by external fixation. The Scotland international is expected to return to the UK later this week. It's not known how much of the season he'll miss.
