MP becomes scout ambassador
MP Penny Mordaunt has become the first ambassador for Portsmouth Scouts.
The Conservative, who represents Portsmouth North, recently met youngsters from
the Widley-based 72nd Portsmouth Scouts on their challenge activity evening.
Ms Mordaunt said: "I am really honoured to have been asked to be an ambassador for Scouting in Portsmouth.
"It is a fantastic movement teaching young people all kinds of skills and enabling them to gain in confidence.
"The volunteers who give their time and expertise are really amazing and I hope to be able to help them achieve their ambitions for the groups they work with."
As a member of the Royal Naval Reserve, the MP said she also understands the outdoor Scouting spirit for adventure.
