Natalie Esack 'A loving, caring person'

Ivan Esack is beginning a life sentence for the murder of his estranged wife Natalie and has been told he will spend at least 28 years behind bars. Esack stabbed Natalie to death in April 2012 in the hair salon she ran in Ashford, Kent.

Natalie was subjected to years of verbal and physical abuse and despite making 999 calls would not press charges against the former detective-turned-football agent.

Natalie's boyfriend Justin Khadaroo reacts to the sentencing, pays tribute to ''a loving, caring person'' and urges anyone who is in an abusive relationship to learn from what happened to Natalie.

Former policeman admits to stabbing wife

A former policeman admitted today that he did stab his wife to death at her town centre hairdresser's salon. Ivan Esack pleaded guilty to manslaughter. But he said he didn't murder her because of his diminished responsibility.

A forensic psychiatrist told Maidstone Crown Court that he was suffering from personality disorders that could provide an explanation for the killing. And his lawyer said someone with his medical condition cannot be convicted of murder. Derek Johnson reports.
