The world's top female jockeys are in the South this week as they prepare to take part in one of the biggest Arabian events on the horse racing calendar. Big prize money is at stake as they compete at Newbury, the home of Arabian horse racing in the UK.
We spoke to trainer and jockey Anna Walker.
The finals to the Student Robotics international competition are happening today at Newbury Racecourse. There are currently over 40 schools from across the Uk, France and Germany taking part in the league. The students have to build fully autonomous robots. The knock-outs start at around 4PM.
Maureen, though, came three-quarters of a length clear of Agent Allison in the Dubai Duty Free (Fred Darling) Stakes and will join stablemate Sky Lantern in the 1000 Guineas on May 5.
Take Two (12-1) made it two-from-two since moving to the care of Alex Hales in the Dubai Duty Free Millennium Millionaire Handicap under Andrea Atzeni, who dashed off to the sauna to make 8st 3lb in the Berry Bros & Rudd Magnum Spring Cup. It was to prove worth the sweating.
Racing will go ahead at Newbury today, despite the bad weather.
The track passed an early morning inspection after officials covered the entire length of the track with frost sheets a few days ago to protect it from temperatures which fell to minus 3 overnight.
80 extra ground staff were bought in to help.
