A 37-year-old local man has been arrested in connection with the death of a woman in her 80s at Ocean Village in Southampton. The pensioner's body was discovered at her flat by a family member. About 60 police officers are involved in the murder inquiry. A post mortem is taking place today.

Hampshire Police have appealed for anyone who saw anything suspicious in the Ocean Village, Southampton, area on Saturday to contact them. They are particularly interested in talking to people in Ocean Way or Atlantic Close or Pacific Close. Do call them on 101 or ring Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111
Death of pensioner 'suspicious'
Hampshire Police have told ITV Meridian the dead woman was found at 7.55 pm. The major investigation team were called in and a wide area around Atlantic Close was cordoned off. The woman's family have been notified. A post-mortem examination to establish the cause of death will be carried out.
