New figures released by the Office of National Statistics shows that 2,000 more people were classed as unemployed in the South East between March and May of this year. The unemployment rate for the region is 6.4% against a national rate of 8.2%.

It shows that 78.9% of 16-64 year olds are now in employment in the South East.
Unemployment fell by 45,000 between January and March to 2.63 million, official figures showed today.
The number of people claiming jobseeker's allowance last month fell by 13,700 to 1.59 million, said the Office for National Statistics.
Average earnings increased by 0.6% in the year to March, 0.5% down on the previous month.
