Two assaults on children in Hampshire 'not linked'

Detectives in Basingstoke investigating two alleged assaults on children in Popley say they do not believe they are connected. A ten-year-old boy was pushed to the ground at around 7pm on Tuesday 27th March. On Sunday 1st April an eight-year-old girl alleged she was assaulted in the same area.

We are working to find out exactly what happened in both of these reported incidents but are confident they are not linked. “While there is no immediate risk to children in the Popley area, I would like to remind parents to make their children aware of ‘stranger danger’ advice and encourage their children tell a trusted adult if they have any worries.”

– Detective Constable Drew Wright, Hampshire Police

Hampshire Police said both incidents continue to be investigated and officers continue to appeal for witnesses. If you have any information about either incident contact Basingstoke Police Station on 101.
